Counting In Japanese Is Simple. In Order To Count To The Number Ninety-nine (99) All You Need To Know Are The Japanese Terms For The Numbers 1Through 10.
Pronouncing The Numbers One To Ten Are As Follows: {English–Japanese}
1. One – Ichi
2 . Two – Ni
3 . Three – San
4 . Four – Shi
5 . Five – Go
6 . Six – Roku
7 . Seven – Shichi
8. Eight – Hachi
9. Nine – Kyu
10. Ten – Ju
Above ten the numbers are pronounced differently By saying ten before the number in the ones place: for example the number 12 in Japanese is translated as “10 and the number 2”. This would be pronounced “Ju Ni”.
11. Eleven – Ju Ichi
12. Twelve – Ju Ni
13. Thirteen – Ju San
14. Fourteen – Ju Shi
15. Fifteen – Ju Go
16. Sixteen – Ju Roku
17. Seventeen – Ju Shichi
18. Eighteen – Ju Hachi
19. Nineteen – Ju Kyu
The number twenty (20) in Japanese translates as “2 – 10’s” . So, The number twenty one (21)
would be considered as “2 – 10’s and a number 1”

2 1. Twenty one – Ni ju ichi
22 . Twenty two – Ni ju ni
The number “100” is pronounced “Hyaku”. Counting above 100 is pronounced by adding the word “Hyaku” before the previous principle. For example, the number “130” is pronounced as “Hyaku-san-ju”.
